The A-2 jacket is steeped in military history. Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle wore his during the 1942 raid, General Douglas MacArthur wore one at Inchon, and today every Air Force pilot has one. But civilians love them too. We make A-2s for civilian flyers, corporate executives, retired military, movie stars, and regular folks who simply want a classic, good-looking, practical leather jacket with a great history.

Gibson & Barnes crafts its Civil A-2 jacket from Air Force patterns, but we’ve added a couple of creature comforts as well. An inside wallet pocket keeps your wallet safe, welted hand-warmer pockets keep your hands warm, and the leather zipper facing protects the lining and keeps the jacket good-looking even when it is unzipped.

We meticulously craft each A-2 from large, chrome-tanned, aniline-dyed, lightly pigmented hides. The lining is smooth, comfortable, long-wearing polyester twill, and the cuffs and waistband are snug, durable textured nylon.

A carefully stitched 1 3/8-inch wide storm flap keeps out the wind. Under the storm flap you’ll find a solid brass zipper with an authentic bell pull and leather thong. The collar snaps down and the neck closes with a military hook & eye.The epaulets are sewn in a regulation box-stitch and ventilation eyelets under the arms keep you cool. Our A-2’s front pockets and pocket flaps are gracefully curved, precisely stitched, and snap shut with black oxide nipple snaps.

When you slip on your new A-2 for the first time, you’ll feel the history and tradition it represents. You’ll be in the company of many Air Force heroes.
